Toolset

About

As the College of Liberal Arts moves toward a more unified web presence, across departments and centers, a shared, dynamic, theme for baseline layouts and designs will be used. This ensures a consistent look and feel, which improves user experience and strengthens the relationship between departments as being part of the College of Liberal Arts. Accompanying this theme will be a collection of highly customizable templates and modules that will be used to prevent sites from feeling "cookie cutter". As a whole, the theme, templates, and modules, are simply being called: Toolset.

Much of what is available within the Toolset will be exclusive to sites that have been moved to the new design. We plan to move departments to the new design as quickly as possible, starting with a pilot group and then opening the queue to departments on a first-come first-served basis. The implementation process will be far more rapid than past site redesigns, thanks to the toolset, but close collaboration, and participation, from the department will be required.

Modules

Modules are the core building blocks, such as text, photos, videos, buttons, and more, used to create your content. There are dozens of modules available to choose from and each has been tuned to work well with our Visual Brand Language (VBL). Modules can be mixed, matched, and arranged in nearly any configuration.

Templates

Templates are collections of modules that have been pre-arranged into layouts that fit within the Visual Brand Language (VBL) and help to provide consistency across the site. Templates are intended to be combined together to build a complete page and help to tell your story.
